Punjab Education Desk
Corrections and Editorial Standards
How we decide what to publish, and how we fix our mistakes.
What we publish
Education news and guidance for students, parents and teachers in Punjab, across Pakistan and in the UAE: admissions, exams and results, scholarships, policy, schools and universities, with some AI and technology news for students. Punjab Education Desk is an independent publication. It is not an official website of the Government of Punjab, the Higher Education Commission, any examination board, school or university.
How posts are made
- News posts are drafted with AI assistance from published reports. A news post needs at least two different publishers, and every source is linked at the end.
- How-to guides are written from the official help pages of the tool or institution, linked at the end.
- Automatic checks run before anything is published: sources, length, duplicates and vague titles. Coding guides must contain the code they promise.
- Sensitive stories (deaths, suicide, children, allegations and court cases) wait for a person to review them before they appear.
- Not every post is read by a person before it is published. We say this plainly so you know how much weight to give a post.
Our rules
- We never invent dates, fees, figures, names or quotes.
- An announcement or a proposal is not described as something that has already happened.
- Allegations are attributed to whoever made them.
- When only last year’s figures exist, we label them as last year’s.
- Deaths and tragedies are described with respect.
- For admissions, results and deadlines, we link the official notice whenever there is one, and you should always confirm there before acting.
How we correct mistakes
- We are responsible for what we publish, including our summaries of other people’s reporting.
- When we learn of an error, we check it against the sources and fix it as soon as we can.
- A correction to facts gets a dated “Updated” note at the end of the post, saying what changed. Fixing a typo does not.
- If a post cannot be fixed, we unpublish it. If two posts answer the same question, we keep one, and the other’s address takes you to it.
